Whistler buzzes with activity, from all types of wildlife both on the mountain and in the valley. When you spend a day in Whistler, the first thing you will notice is the garbage cans and how difficult they are to open. Why? Bears live here too, but in Whistler the locals live in co-existence not only with the bears, but many different wildlife species. A 45-minute drive south of Whistler brings you to one of the major winter-feeding grounds for the American bald eagle. No longer on the endangered list, you'll never be the same after seeing literally hundreds of the normally solitary beauties gathered almost shoulder to shoulder on perches, waiting for salmon to die.
